How Empty Legs Work
What it is
An empty leg is a flight an aircraft must make anyway — typically repositioning to pick up its next passengers after dropping off the last ones. The operator would rather fill that empty cabin than fly it empty.
Why it's discounted
Since the aircraft is already committed to the route, the operator sells the leg at a steeply reduced rate. The trade-off: the route and timing are fixed, and availability can change with the originating charter.
